Cooper Meitz

Lead Mentor

Cooper Meitz began mentoring in 2023 and joined Team 1833 in 2024. An alumnus of Team 1746, he graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Computer Science and now works as a software engineer at Microsoft. Cooper supports the team in programming, electrical, and strategy, encouraging students to think critically and embrace the problem-solving process. He enjoys helping students understand the tradeoffs behind real-world decisions and aims to foster a culture of continuous learning.

Amanda Banks

Amy Banks began volunteering in FRC in 2021 as the Treasurer of Team 1746 and joined Team 1833 in 2024. Amy graduated from Piedmont University in 1997 with an Accounting degree and has 20+ years of accounting experience. She currently owns her own bookkeeping service. She mentors the team about setting up budgets and using financial statements to help stay within budget. She enjoys teaching the business team how to apply for grants, find new sponsors, and maintain relationships with existing sponsors.

Casey Austin

Casey Austin joined Team 1833 as a mentor in 2025 and is an alumnus of Team 1746, where he was a student from 2017 to 2020. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and currently works as an engineering designer at ArgonFDS. Casey supports the team by guiding students through the mechanical design process, from early prototyping to finalized CAD models. He enjoys helping students develop confidence in their ideas and believes FRC is one of the best platforms for young people to grow as problem-solvers, collaborators, and engineers.

Thomas Priego

Thomas Priego joined Team 1833 as a mentor in 2025 and is an alumnus of Team 1746, where he was a student from 2016 to 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Kennesaw State, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Young Harris College, and currently works as a math teacher at Chestatee High School. Thomas supports the team by mentoring students in strategy and match preparation, helping them analyze gameplay, develop effective match plans, and make data-driven decisions during competition. He enjoys encouraging students to think critically and adapt in high-pressure situations and believes that FRC is an incredible opportunity for students to grow as leaders, thinkers, and teammates.
